My name is Megan. I grew up in a small town in Washington state out in the woods, with my horse, Koni and my dog Joe. Oh, and the rest of my family. I am the oldest of 6 kids and I was home-schooled until I, with the help of my sister Rachel (who knew I needed socialization and had my best interests in mind), convinced my parents to let me go to public school for high school. This was an extremely important decision for me, for it was in high school that I met my friend, Joy, who after talking to each other for about five minutes said to me, “You have to meet my friend, Jeremiah. You would love him.” Jeremiah and I met and started dating about 2 years after that.

After high school I attended Canyonview Equestrian College for one year and then worked for a small airline in reservation sales. Then right before Jeremiah started his junior year of undergrad we got married. We enjoyed being married while he finished up college and I worked at a local photo lab. After that Jeremiah got a job with company that builds and maintains cell phone towers. He spent a lot of time climbing towers out in the cold, wet Washington weather. It was this experience that led him to decide to actually put his degree to work and become a chemist. Yes I am married to a chemist who loves to play with fire. It makes for a great combination. So with his new job came moving. We have to move around a lot, well, not a lot but every 3 or 4 years. It’s enough for our kids.

We have 3 wonderful children, Linus is the oldest and a rule follower and a talker. He will even continue talking with the radio on in the car, even when I can’t really hear what he is saying, he continues talking, he talks through hockey practice and he talks through play dates and he talks and talks and talks. Juliette is the second and is our wild child, she likes things to be orderly and done a certain way but she throws the rules out the window when it comes to getting something she wants. But she is 2 after all. Then there is Christian, who just turned one. He is an interesting little fellow who just wants to be a part of things but he has a gleam in his eye that I am not quite sure what to think of yet.

We do have a little Jack Russell Terrier named Cash. I didn’t really want to mention him WITH the kids. We are not that kind of family that considers him to also be a child. We love him and care for him. I even performed CPR on him once. He is a VERY good dog. But he is not our child.

As for my personal hobbies, of course I love to ride horses but moving and having 3 young kids really is not conducive, so I ride when I can but it’s not often. I make up for it by cooking and baking a lot. I rarely come up with my own recipes. I am not that creative. But I am good at reproducing other’s inventions. I try to use as many organic and natural ingredients as our budget allows and since my youngest son seems to have a dairy intolerance, I typically cook with goat milk. Unless I need some good old fashioned heavy cream. I have to admit (shhh, don’t tell my husband) that I do have an ongoing affair with dairy products. I love them. I go through short stints where I try to be healthy and live without certain very fattening ones, but it doesn’t usually last long. I especially love butter. Since I love photography as well as food I tend to photograph the food I cook. Food sits still. It doesn’t move while you are trying to do a long exposure. It makes it easy on ya. But I do take a lot of pictures of the kids too.

Oh and actually my husband, I am pretty sure, knows about the dairy products. He also is not happy when they are gone....
