This is something I whipped up the other day when I was making Shrimp Fettuccini Alfredo and realized I hadn’t gotten around to making my favorite artisan bread – which is really silly because it’s the easiest bread to make EVER.
But there I was, wanting bread with my pasta.
I just happened to have a ciabatta loaf on hand though and it sounded like a great idea to doctor it up a bit.
So I threw this together and there was not a single piece left after dinner. This was large loaf of bread too, I honestly almost did just half of it, but was glad I did the whole thing since none of us could stop eating it. It was so garlicky and buttery and cheesy…
We definitely got our carbs for the day with this meal and it was SO yummy!
- 1 loaf artisan bread such as ciabatta or a baguette
- ½ stick soft butter
- 2 cloves garlic, finely minced
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese
- Take your loaf and slice it in half lengthwise, like a sandwich.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soft butter, garlic, oregano and basil. Then spread the mixture all over the cut side of both halves of the bread.
- Sprinkle parmesan all over and place the bread on a baking sheet.
- I had my grill fired up so I just put mine on there until the cheese melted but if you want to go the oven route, bake at 400˚ for about 7-8 minutes, just until the cheese melts.
