So after living here for almost 2 years I finally decided to try out this little all natural market I had heard so much about. I am in LOVE.
It’s pretty much my favorite store of all times.
Sort of a cross between Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods? Anyway, they have a fabulous bulk section that I cannot control myself in and then they have tons of fresh wonderful fruit that my kids cannot help themselves in.
Seriously, this afternoon we stopped in because we have discovered their granola, which is amazing and fresh and wonderful. We had run out of it and heaven forbid we run out of granola in this house. So we go in for granola and a few ingredients to make salsa and we came out with about $35 worth of fruit!
I find it really difficult to say, “No” when they are begging for fruits and vegetables. I had to though.
As you can see above, we came home with cherries, avocados, nectarines, strawberries (which mostly got eaten in the car on the way home), blueberries, bananas, dates and a cantaloupe. Oh and the largest bag of organic carrots that we could find.
But they were still begging for grapes, mangos and string beans. I had to cut them off somewhere.
Yes, they did beg for candy too. They are normal children.
I thought about letting them get a couple pieces of salt water taffy, but it was about that time that a melt down ensued.
See? Normal children.
Linus was the one who wanted dates and knowing that we all love them I decided to let him get them. So he pranced on over to the dates and Juliette just fell apart. She was literally screaming through the entire store, “NO!! I don’ wan’ dates! Don’ yik them!”
Screaming.
Bawling.
Carrying on.
I tried to talk some sense into her, I wasn’t going to make her eat them after all. But she wouldn’t listen to a word I was saying. One other lady even tried to tell her she could give her share of them to Mommy as a present. To no avail.
She continued screaming.
So we got our granola and left.
We get out to the car and Linus says, “Mom can I have a date to snack on in the car?”
Juliette pipes in, “Oh dates, I yike dates. Can I have one?”
Ummmm, no you may not.
Have some fruit.
