A Bed on the Kitchen Floor

Share

Christian has a bit of problem with me leaving.

He’s kind of a Momma’s Boy.

Last night I needed to go running so I can keep up with my sister, Rachel, on the last six miles of her marathon. So I made dinner and got everyone dished up and changed to go.

I tried to sneak out but was discovered as I was walking out and the last thing I heard as I closed the front door was: THUD…scream, scream and more scream…Hey momma… (this is point where I turned on my ipod and left and yes, that’s the Black Eyed Peas. Good running stuff).

So I ran my four miles for the day, which I was supposed to do on tuesday but didn’t have time for and then couldn’t go wednesday because I tried out a kickboxing class with my friend, Cassie – super fun by the way. Considering it is the first time I have run more than three miles since…well, I can’t even remember the last time I ran more than three miles. High School? Anyway, I felt that considering it has been so long, I am at 7000ish feet, running a roller coaster of a road and did 10 minute miles the whole way, I did pretty well. I do hope to improve of course though!

So I finished my run, cooled down by walking for a while and then went  home to stretch.

I heard voices in the basement so I figured everyone was down there. So I went down and stretched while Jeremiah and Linus worked on their lego projects and we chatted.

After a bit I asked, “So did two and three go to bed?” (We have a number system for our kids so we can talk about them in code and they don’t know who we are talking about – Linus has pretty much figured it out at this point but it still works pretty well) and Jeremiah said, “Juliette is in bed, I haven’t seen Christian in a bit, he was screaming when you left and then I haven’t heard him in a little while.”

Lovely.

So we both went frantically looking for him. We knew he wasn’t in the basement since that was where WE were.

Didn’t see him in the family room, not in the living room. He wasn’t up in his room. Juliette hadn’t seen him. Our bedroom was closed and he didn’t appear to be in there. Not in the bathroom.

We both came downstairs and looked at each other in near panic. Then Jeremiah looked in the kitchen and sure enough, laying on the kitchen floor in a nest of blankets and pillows, was Christian.

Sound asleep.

Needless to say, we were pretty relieved at having found him. So I took the opportunity to have a little photo-shoot since he NEVER sits still long enough for me to get a great picture.

I started with his sweet little feet since I have never been successful at getting a foot shot. He is always twisting and twitching them around when he is awake and usually he is in his crib when he is sleeping which makes them difficult to get to.

Unfortunately I didn’t get any further than his feet. Linus came waltzing into the kitchen going, “Christian, WAKE UP!”.

Which he did and that was end of the shoot.

Oh well.

It was semi-successful and I am glad I at least got some little feet pictures cause they are getting bigger and bigger every time I look at them so I am glad to capture them now before they turn into big and disgusting man feet.

So I put him up in his little bed and tucked him in and off he went, back to sleep for the night.
