What You See is What You Get

Share

Christian liked the singing at Linus’ school Christmas program.

For about 30 seconds.

So I ended up standing in the back with him the whole time. Which was fine really since I was planning on getting up and taking pictures anyway.

Linus did much better this year. Last year I think he new a few words to some of the songs. This year he seemed to know most of the words and most of the motions (although I did notice he was watching Samantha and copying her – she’s the girl in the red dress and she always knows all the motions. She’s the sweetest thing). At least from what I could see while playing, Chase the Baby Who’s Running Down the Aisle and Drop the Sippy Cup.

Fun games but rather distracting.

It’s always fun seeing all the kids up there singing their little hearts out and beaming from pride that they know what to do.

Can I also say that I love that Linus insists on wearing a tie and not tucking in his shirt. He has been on a kick lately with wearing them to church. Which is funny because our church is super casual, most people don’t even wear khaki pants, much less a tie. But hey, I’m cool with it. I like to dress up personally since church is about the only opportunity I have to do so. So maybe he picked up on that? I don’t know.

It was cute this morning though, when we were packing to fly to Washington and I told him to get some church clothes, but to keep it casual. He comes into my room and asks me to take one of his dress shirts off the hanger for him. He had a white shirt with a blue and red striped tie and a blue shirt with a matching blue dolphin tie (his favorite). I said, “One fancy shirt and tie is probably good.” and he says, “But aren’t we going to be there more than one church day?” Glad he is so on top of things.

Anyway back to the Christmas program. One thing they do that I love is, because they cram a lot of information into each school day they don’t take the time to learn a bunch of new Christmas songs just for the performance that aren’t really educational. Rather, the kids just sing songs they have already learned in class that go along with what they have been learning. It might be a touch, well, not Christmas-y, but it is so fun to hear some of the songs they have learned, they’re really cute AND Linus comes home from school and sings little bits and pieces of songs on a whim and that’s all you get. He never really wants to talk about what they have been learning. He just says, “And I don’t know again.”

Here he is right before the performance                            Linus and his friend, Caden.
