What I recently learned….

So I was at the women’s brunch that I cooked for last weekend and my friend Angie brought the speaker, Susan, over and introduced me as the person who had made, “all this wonderful food” and Susan looks at me and says, “You were home schooled, weren’t you?” The first thought that flashed across my mind was, “I am not wearing a denim jumper. How did she know?” Kidding. Just kidding. But it was pretty close to that…. anyway, I said, “Uuuh, yaaa, how did you guess?” and she laughed and said, “Because women who were home schooled are not afraid of ANYTHING.”

I thought that is SUCH an interesting perspective. I mean, ya I’ll cook a brunch with fancy little sandwiches for 25 people, no problem. I can take a horse who is terrified of people and make it into a pretty decent animal. I can maybe shoot a moving target with a shot gun – if it’s going slow, and I can fly by myself on a plane with 3 young children at Christmas time and have us all survive. But I have to say I would be TERRIFIED of home schooling.

I just wanted to share that little bit of information with some of my lovely friends who do home school their children.

I wonder what it is about homeschooling that creates that kind of can-do attitude, because I am not home schooling, but I want that for my kids and I know it is of course possible, but I like purposeful parenting much better than just figuring things out as I go so I would love to hear your input
