This morning Linus, once again got up way to early. He is such a little rooster.
Always has been.
He crows at (or before) dawn.
I sent him down to the basement so I could finish my quiet time and that ticked him off. Which ticked me off and then I felt bad for being mean so I invited him back up and we snuggled on the couch with Teddy, a blanket and my coffee. We had a good little chat about what’s going on in his life. One parenting book I read recently called, “Don’t make me count to three!” said, “I had the privilege of listening to the hopes and dreams of a handsome young man who thinks I’m the greatest woman in the world. He stands just over three feet tall and only gets really excited over Legos and pizza, but he is funny, charming and never boring.” Every time I read that I tear up and am reminded first of all how my children (hopefully) view me and that I have a pretty high standard to hold myself up to and also just how wonderful my children really are. It makes me WANT to sit and listen to his hopes and dreams and reminds me that I should. I am a get it done, goal oriented person to the point that I often forget to say hello to people and sometimes I find myself spending my whole day in that mode, when all I really need to do is sit, forget about housework and laundry and this and that and just listen to what they have to say.
One of the things Linus had to say was that he was ready to start the day with a tea party.
Well of course my thought is, “Tea cookies!”
My second being, “Probably not for breakfast, plus they take to much effort for this early in the morning and it would be lunch time by the time they were ready to eat.”
So we made mini quiches. It was fun, they puffed up like little tiny souffles. They were also very light and fluffy like souffles. Christian especially enjoyed eating them. Linus didn’t like the green onions. Juliette very enthusiastically thanked me and the next time I looked hers were all gone so I am assuming she liked them.
In the process of getting the tea cups down I dropped one and it shattered all over the kitchen floor. It was a sad moment. Fortunately it was not one I really cared a lot about, but Linus still offered to get me a new one for Christmas.
Isn’t he just the sweetest thing?
After that extravaganza we headed out to open gym at Juliette’s gymnastics place. They are very nice there and let the boys come in for open gym also. Basically the kids get to run around and climb all over all the stuff and have a good time. Linus has a little group of boys he plays with there, they were lions today.
They chased me.
Christian likes the ball pit the best. I like him being in there because he is contained.
After that we went to Chic-fil-A for lunch and I let the kids get a kids meal which came with the ridicules ‘comic’ book about a superhero cow who goes around trying to get people not to eat beef. Linus couldn’t understand why I thought it was so strange. Oh well, one of the things I do love about Chic-fil-A is that they do give the kids books instead of a stupid toy that I am going to end up throwing away.
They are now all asleep.
Yay.
