What a wonderful day!
We didn’t do anything spectacular or different, just an easy going day with a few friends over for dinner and it was so nice. I loved not going crazy cleaning my house – yes I entertained and did not clean.
It was great.
Ok we picked some toys and blankets and teddy bears and miscellaneous shoes and pajamas that were laying around and I had Linus clean the bathroom. But it wasn’t the major overhaul I would normally perform before allowing anyone even close to my doorstep.
But I think I have come to that place in life where I just don’t care as much. I would rather spend my time doing other things.
Anyway…
I think this was my very first white Easter too.
Yup, it snowed Easter morning.
I think I have experienced only 2 white Christmas’ so I’m not far behind on my white Easters!
So needless to say, we did NOT go to a sunrise service. That is also partly because our church doesn’t do one, which I am totally okay with. I love going to one, but it’s way early to kids ready and out the door.
(can I insert a little side note here? I just caught my daughter chewing her *TOE NAILS* Blech!)
After church we came home and stuck a couple hams in the oven and made some stuffed mushrooms – which all got eaten so I guess I will need to make them again so I can post the recipe, I do try not to photograph food when we have guests. Oh and scalloped potatoes, Mom’s recipe, Mmmmmm. Love. Also all got eaten so I will make again soon.
Jeremiah ended up inviting more people while we were at church so we weren’t sure about our food quantities, we might not care about the house being tidy but heaven FORBID we run out of food around here so I went ahead and made two hams and an extra pie – Cranberry Apple but I made it with whole wheat crust. Which was earthy, I liked it, but I think this would be better done once my grain order comes in with my soft white wheat… I am trying to be patient…..
We always do a little jelly bean hunt for the kids, this is tradition I grew up with. But we are lazy, and aways do it after church rather than staying up late the night before hiding jelly beans. So we sent the kids up to clean their rooms while Jeremiah hid the beans. Christian of course not only has a hard time cleaning his room, but he shares a room with Linus so we called it good and let him stay. He was SUCH a good boy. He stood behind the wall to the living room and watched:
He kept trying to sneak in and get some but Jeremiah would say, “No, no Christian. You have to wait.” and he would scuttle back to his little spot.
When told it was time, he got the biggest grin on his face and rather than collecting them in his basket, like the other kids. He just stood there cramming them into his mouth as fast as he could.
Here are a couple other pictures from the day:
They’re so cute.
So we ate, we talked, we laughed. We gloried in the story of the resurrection and it was a grand day.
Praise God!
