So I just realized I planned Juliette’s birthday party – her first actual party with friends – for Super Bowl Sunday.
Can ya tell I’m not into sports?
The only reason I realized it was because I went on www.thepioneerwoman.com and she was talking about making food for the Super Bowl and I was like, “Hmm, I wonder if that is THIS sunday.” so I looked it up and sure enough. It is.
Not that is really seems to matter, all but one little girl RSVP’d.
I guess most little girls and their moms don’t really care either. Thankfully.
I just though it was funny.
Juliette seems to have caught onto the whole birthday thing as of late. So I told her she could have a little party. She invited 4 girls and only one can’t come which makes the whole, you can count on about 75% for you wedding, rule work for birthday parties too.
Juliette has been talking about her birthday since Christmas. Which is WAY better than when Linus turned 3, he started talking about his 3rd birthday party in July.
His birthday is in February.
He had a lot of older friends I guess.
So anyway, right after Christmas, Juliette came up to me and says, “Mom, I wan dollhouse my birday party.” What?! I was pretty sure, at that point in time that she didn’t even know what a birthday was, much less a dollhouse.
Then she KEPT talking about it. She would bring it up at random times, like in the car or while reading books, “I wan dollhouse my birday party.”
So I figured since she was so looking forward to it and wanted it so badly that it would be awfully nice of me to go with it. Plus it gives me an opportunity to bake a cake, which I am not particularly talented at, but love doing and to buy her a dollhouse.
The thing about Juliette is, she is normally….hmm, this a hard one to actually put into words….Juliette is not really quiet but you don’t always know what she is thinking or feeling. I guess maybe I am just used to Linus and how he always lets you know absolutely everything that going on his head at all times and this includes blown out of proportion feelings. Where Jules just gets it figured out on her own. So when she actually voices a hope, a dream, like having a birthday party I tend to notice and take action.
So the other day we went to Wal-mart and I let her pick out some little plates and treat bags and favors to put in them. I somehow forgot to get balloons, which are essential, so we’ll have to run back out. But I think Juliette and I are both excited to have a little girl party. I know she is very much looking forward to it!
And I am REALLY excited to give her the dollhouse that is sitting up in my room!
