I love how organized and robot-like Juliette is.
A girl after my own heart. I always do everything the exact same way, every time I do it. This includes making coffee, putting groceries away, brushing my teeth, the way I grab a chair at the dinner table to pull it out or push it in along with many other things. I never change.
Neither does Juliette.
It makes it a little frustrating sometimes.
Like for example the routine she seems to have come up with for bedtime.
I tell her to go upstairs and put her jammies on.
She cries and screams, “No, don’t wan go bed!”
I tell her, “Too bad. Go upstairs and put your jammies on and brush your teeth.”
She stomps upstairs, gets her jammies and somehow finds a way to not put them on. One example might be, she chooses a nightie that is inside out and needs helps help flipping it. She can’t get the zipper up. Her foot gets stuck in something.
She is brilliant at finding ways to delay the process.
So after being forced to help her with her jammies she then gets sent up to brush her teeth.
After the water runs for about 2-3 minutes I usually head up there to find her washing her face with cotton balls. I am not really sure what to do about this since I am happy she likes to wash her face. I would just rather she use something else to do it. Like a washcloth.
So then I ask her if she has brushed her teeth yet. She will say no. So I will do it for her.
Then I will tell her to go hop in bed. But she delays, yet again, by discovering that she needs to wash her hands.
So she washes her hands while I wait on her bed.
Then she comes flouncing into her room on her tiptoes with her curls bouncing along behind her and jumps onto her bed. I tuck her in and say, “Say your prayers.”
“A dee dod, a dee dod. Amen.”
Seriously, that’s what she says. Every night. I have no idea what it means. Maybe, “Dear God, dear God. Amen.”? Either way, she means what she says.
Then she usually likes to have some kind of conversation. Last night was, “Me, Ju-ette and you Ju-ette too!”, she is trying to figure out all of our names recently and has discovered that my middle name is Juliette, therefor we are both Juliette. So we usually go through all of that and Daddy is Jeremiah and Cash is Cash.
Then I usually have to cut her off, which I hate doing and sometimes I allow it to go on for a while, but other times I know she isn’t going to stop anytime soon. So it’s, “Goodnight Juliette, I love you.”
“Night Momma. Yuv you too.”
